Major Brand Properties Join the CardioReady® Network

Growing Number of Hotels at Major Brands Committing to Protecting Customers, Guests, and Employees with CardioReady® Certified Cardiac Emergency Programs

Philadelphia, PA - April 20, 2007 - Properties from prestigious and well-known brands are continuing to make and promote their commitment to cardiac emergency readiness by joining the CardioReady Network. CardioReady® Certification, developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association's guidelines, provides a recognized, life-saving standard which employs best practices in an on-site automated external defibrillator (AED) program for treating persons who have suffered Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

Among the major brands with hotels recently joining the CardioReady Network are Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels Group, Loews Hotels, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. In addition, Loews has endorsed the CardioReady program for all its properties in the U.S. and Canada.

Hotels within the major brands are now recognizing the need for their facilities to be prepared in case of SCA and they also want their customers to know they're taking the appropriate steps. The StarCite supplier marketplace which serves thousands of meeting professionals from major corporations and independent planning agencies, identifies facilities which are CardioReady® Network Members. This certification identification enables meeting professionals to identify and select facilities that have employed best practices for cardiac emergency programs.

"It is very gratifying that hotels of the major brands are now recognizing the importance of taking those steps necessary to achieve CardioReady® status so as to optimize the chance for saving the life of any guest or employee who suffers from SCA" commented Norman L. Norris, Chairman of CR Certification Corporation which certifies facilities as "CardioReady®.. "These hotels are setting a life-saving example that all hotels will ultimately follow as the traveling public increasingly demands that hotels take those steps necessary to qualify them to be CardioReady® Certified."

CardioReady® Certified facilities follow American Heart Association guidelines for protecting guests, attendees, and employees from Sudden Cardiac Arrest - a leading cause of death. Requirements for receiving certification include medical supervision, strategic placement of AEDs throughout the facility, trained staff, documented equipment testing and maintenance programs, coordination with local emergency response entities and compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
